Rosewater Sweets

 For centuries, the rose has been highly valued by many cultures for its beauty, perfume, and traditional medicinal properties.  In addition to its profound healing powers, rose water has also been used to flavor different dishes and pastries in Middle Eastern and Greek cuisines.

Growing up in Iran, in the northwest province of Gilan, I was exposed to strong culinary traditions at a very young age.  The richness of Gilaki Cuisine derives in part from the climate, which allows for the growth of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and nuts.

Cooking and baking are delightful ways to connect you closer to your family. What makes it more special is the time you spend cooking together, sharing meals, and enjoying your family traditions while you celebrate the holidays. At the age of 7, I started helping my mother and grandmother whenever they baked for family gatherings and special occasions, which sparked my curiosity and inspiration for pastries.

Using Persian culinary principles as a foundation and adding an endless supply of regional ingredients, I created unique recipes based on my family’s techniques. My philosophy in each recipe is simplicity and elegance, letting the essence of the star ingredient, rose water, shine through. These artisan pastries are a great addition to any occasion and they are sure to put a smile on your face.

I custom make almond or walnut baklava with pistachios. I also offer a gluten free version upon request. I am thrilled to be able to share these treats with you.
